Narrative Assessment - Developmental - 23 February 2016

Learner:  Shokrullah           Learning Coach: Megan Croll           Date: 23 February 2016
Learning Area:  Developmental
Learning Observed
Today during our ‘Developmental’ session, Shokrullah and two other learners were working together to construct a building with the Duplo blocks.  As the building took shape, they talked about what they wanted to put where, as well as how the ‘people’ would be using the building.   There was discussion about where to put the door and how high the ‘tower’ should be.

Keiran, Marcus and Shokrullah were very pleased with the finished result of their building.
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Shokrullah participated and contributed with others to design and create this building (Thinking).  He demonstrated capability when problems arose, e.g. blocks didn’t fit properly, another learner had already finished a part that he was going to do (Managing Self).
Next Learning Steps
  • Talk about a plan with others before beginning to build
  • Consider using colour patterns with the blocks

Narrative Assessment - Writing - 3 Feb 2016

Learner: Shokrullah               Learning Coach: Miriam Kamsteeg        Date: 3 Feb 2016
Learning Area: Literacy - Writing
Learning Observed
Today I invited the Learners to write a story about colour they liked. We practised writing “I like” and finding the words on the word card. We then talked about finding the initial letter of the colour we wanted to write about. Shokrullah then went off by himself to write his own story. He wrote “I like belle” (I like blue).
Evidence of learning

Shokrullah was able to sound out the word blue.  I wonder if he has practised his writing in the holidays?
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Shokrullah is developing his Capabilities in Writing. He was able to work by himself to write a story (Managing Self). Shorkullah is starting to form his letters correctly and listen to the sounds they make when recording them (Using Language, Symbols and Text). He was able to Think of his own story and write it down.
Next Learning Steps
  • Explicit teaching on using a full stop at the end of a sentence.
  • Continue to teach using the word card to find words and sounds to record for a story.
  • Share learning with home.
